Kagiso clearly loves jerks! Well that’s according to this week’s episode (number 6 to be exact) of the popular online TV series, Kagiso’s Island of Treasure.

Last week, Kagiso spent time in a recording studio perfecting his singing skills and this week, he and Tropika Islands of Treasure co-host, Rosina Casserly, a former Miss Jamaica winner, are aiming to perfect their culinary skills in a local Jamaican kitchen.

So why does Kagiso fall in love with a jerk? Well, as viewers soon find out, Jerk is a Jamaican type of seasoning that they use to cook with or eat with all their meals….

Kagiso explains his motive for going into the kitchen this episode by saying: “Ever since I got to Jamaica, I’ve been hearing about this ‘jerk’ chicken stuff. Apparently it’s some kind of spicy dish. Rosina’s taking me to Grill 71 to try it out. I doubt it’ll come close to the stuff my mum makes at home.”

Of course, at Grill 71, Kagiso tries to upstage the local Jamaican chef by showing her his favourite South African cuisine, pap and vleis, much to her delightment when she tastes his concoction.

But will he get used to loving jerk seasoning?

Next week, his adventures continue….For some reason, Rosina wants Kagiso to meet her at a local gym. Who the heck does she think they’re going to run into? Oh and is Kagiso ever going to really upstage DJ Fresh? What is the real point of him visiting Jamaica then?

I can’t wait to watch to see what he’ll get up to next – or who he’ll run into . . . Anyway, check out this week’s episode… And here’s to you emulating Kagiso’s culinary skills in the kitchen :-)

With this week’s episode of Kagiso’s Island of Treasure, I am not sure whether to laugh or cry for the talented SA comedian.

If you’ve been following the Tropika online reality TV series, Kagiso’s Island of Treasure, you’d be aware that this SA comic has flown all the way to Jamaica to try and upstage DJ Fresh – the host of the SABC1 reality TV show, Tropika Island of Treasure, as the show’s fifth season is filmed on the Caribbean island of Jamaica.

In the past few web episodes of Kagiso’s Island of Treasure, audiences have been exposed former Miss Jamaica, Rosina Casserly, who will act as Fresh’s vivacious new co-host on the TV show this year – a treat for all fans and myself, a former alumni of the contestants. I seriously can’t wait to see the new batch of celebs and public contestants vying for the R1 million prize money.

So Kagiso’s tried his hand at discovering the local craft markets in Jamaica, and he has even tried his hand at some dancing (you poor thing, the rhythm will come), but in episode five of the show Kagiso does his best to upstage a local singer, as he tries to prove his errr… vocal ability.

Ever heard of a singer named Tess Anne Chin? Well she’s one of Jamaica’s best known musical talents… you know, right after Bob Marley and those other guys. She’s never been put to the test by someone with my animal keen hearing though. Let’s see what she knows. I love how her eyes roll when Kagiso claims that the No.1 ballad by Whitney Houston, I Will Always Love You, was in fact sung by Celine Dion. Tess isn’t impressed by his faux pas!

Not that we should all be running out to go buy his music, but Kagiso clearly needs to get a few more lessons before he should even try to hit the recording studio…

I am not sure if he has dazzled Tropika fans so far with his attempt to upstage Fresh in anything, seeing as Fresh has not even featured in any of the episodes… What I would have liked to have seen more is Fresh and Kagiso going head-to-head in the dancing and singing activities – that would have been more gripping to watch! Right now, it’s kinda cringe-worthy and I hope Kagiso picks up the pace in the coming episodes of his pnline reality TV show.

Anyway, check out this week’s episode… And I suggest you don’t try this one at home!

South African-born and raised Hollywood actress, Lesley-Ann Brandt, has just wrapped up her next big Hollywood feature film.

The Cape Town-born actress, who has lived in Hollywood for three years now, shot Killing Winston Jones over the festive season in 2012, opposite Hollywood acting legends, Richard Dreyfuss and Danny Glover as well as comedic heavy weights, Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) and Danny Masterson (That 70′s Show). The role sees her playing the daughter of Glover’s character and the love interest of Masterson’s character.

Fans of Brandt first got to witness her acting talents in the internationally acclaimed Starz hit TV shows, Spartacus Blood as well as Sand and Spartacus God’s of the Arena, where she played the role of sex slave, Naevia.

Following the success of this role and the popularity she received from playing it, Brandt opted to move to Los Angeles in 2010 to further her acting career – a bold move which is starting to pay off.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of such a wonderful cast” says the vivacious actress. “I am a huge Lethal Weapon fan so to be working with Danny Glover is pretty cool and not to mention the man from Jaws himself, Richard Dreyfuss,” she said.

Last year Brandt made appearances in US TV shows such as CSI:NY (a recurring role), Chuck as well as Memphis Beat (alongside Jason Lee) as well as a lead role in in the US TV movie, Zombie Apocalypse, starring opposite Ving Rhames and Taryn Manning.

Brandt will also be gracing screens internationally along with her co-star Sam Worthington (from Avatar fame) when her feature film lead role dĂ©but in “Drift” is released worldwide in February 2013.

Brandt also recently made the headlines on international celebrity website TMZ, when a video of her with co-star John Heder appeared on the website, showing the two actors having a singing session at a Georgia karaoke bar…

I urge you to check out this brilliant footage…

It’s episode 4 of Kagiso’s Island of Treasure is taking  and SA comedian Kagiso Lediga is clearly enjoying Jamaica. Kagiso is still trying to outdo Tropika Island of Treasure host, DJ Fresh, and his limelight on the SABC1 reality TV show.

Last week, Kagiso and Fresh’s co-host, Rosina Casserly, a former Miss Jamaica winner, spent some time at the local Jamaican craft markets and I’m not quite sure yet what he is trying to do in Jamaica just yet… He’s slightly dragged out the series and I’m starting to wonder if him going all the way to Jamaica – all in the name of upstaging DJ Fresh – was even worth it?

Episode 4, is at least much more hilarious than the previous 3 web shows! Kagiso goes with Rosina to a local dance studio to try and shake his shimmy, taking on some sexy Jamaican dance moves.

But is up to it? Can he outshine the sexy ladies on the dance floor? I could not help but laugh from the moment he walks in with the very slim-fitting, bright yellow leotard and hopelessly fails and keeping with with Rosina! Stick to comedy dude!

Anyway, check out this week’s episode… And I suggest you don’t try this one at home!

Dec 2012 28

Last week we saw SA comedian Kagiso Lediga arrive in Jamaica, aiming to prove to the Tropika Island of Treasure contestants and host, 5FM’s DJ Fresh, that he could do much better in having his own show on the beautiful island… I think he is deeply sad to be missing out on the R1 million prize money action and being featured on the SABC1 reality TV show, when it starts airing in February in 2013.

Kagiso actually flew to Jamaica to track down Fresh’s co-host, Rosina Casserly, a former Miss Jamaica winner, and from what the show appears to go by, he is clearly smitten with her. But what’s his obsession with this beauty?

This week, episode 3 in the hilarious web TV series, Kagiso tags along with Rosina to the local Jamaican markets, where he gets a crash course from Rosina about the Jamaican lingo, culture and people.

He says: “If I’m gonna be hosting the Tropika Island of Treasure 5 in Jamaica, I’m gonna have to look the part. We made our way over to the Dunn’s River Craft Market so I could get the look, and I just might have learnt a little local lingo for the occasion.”

Not a good idea when Kagiso is trying his best to outshine his Tropika Island of Treasure counter parts… Let’s just say he does his best to annoy Rosina, when he actually gets the entire Jamaican lingo wrong!

A very funny moment to look out for is when he mocks Rosina when she uses the word “boutiques” – but with a sexy Jamaican accent. Is this is way of trying to melt her heart? Well, you’re doing it wrong Kagiso!  Then there’s the #deathby moment when Kagiso embarrasses himself in front of a local craft owner… Is there hope for him in outshining his Tropika mates in Jamaica?

Right now I don’t think so … and I have to say this Kagiso: Rosina is stealing your limelight from you in this web TV show! Get it together bud – Jamaica is waiting for you to come to the party!

Check out this week’s episode…
