Things are heating up in preparation of the new season of Tropika Island of Treasure, which was shot on location in Jamaica last year. The first episode premieres on 16 February on SABC1 and I can’t wait to see what the new season entails.

In case you forgot, the cast comprises oh-so-sexy celebrities AKA, DA L.E.S, Phuti Khomo, Pearl Thusi, Jay Anstey, Reeva Steenkamp and Mario Ogle, as well as the seven lucky public winners Katleho Molai, Mbali Ngaleka, Genevieve Amy Arulappan, Sinethemba Buthelezi, Duan Wanty and Kefentse Moagi.

This week’s episode on Kagiso’s Island of Treasure is hilarious: Kagiso Lediga has a breakdown on camera! Why, you may ask? Well, that’s what you get when you piss off your fellow co-host, former Miss Jamaica Rosina Casserly, and you decide to shoot the entire online TV show by yourself. Not a smart move there, Kagiso!

Remember everything he said back in Episode 2 about needing a good team? Well Kagiso seems to think he was wrong. He is of the opinion that “all you need is yourself”.

“I’m a one-man film crew and I’m hitting the streets of Jamaica to prove I’ve got what it takes to host the Tropika Island of Treasure 5!” Dream on, Kagiso!

After upsetting Rosina last week while visiting the Bob Marley Museum in Kingston, Kagiso’s entire crew abandoned him – leaving him to shoot the remainder of his online TV series by himself. This week, Kagiso walks the beaches and streets of Kingston, aiming to work all alone – a move which clearly sends him into complete meltdown mode – great for viewing pleasure. He even pops in at the Nelson Mandela Park, where he meets locals to find out about their knowledge about the legendary South African.

On the one hand, one can’t help but laugh at at his failure in keeping a camera crew together but viewers are all going to feel sorry for his cocky behaviour. It’s pretty apparent very fast, that Kagiso regret’s his behaviour and realises he can’t do the show by himself any more! A heartwarming moment, indeed.

Don’t miss next week’s episode when Kagiso aims to track down Rosina to apologise. He says: “I’ve never been one for saying sorry, but sometimes (very, VERY rarely), it just has to be done. It’s back to Rosina’s studio with me to make amends, find my team and finish this thing once and for all.”

Life is clearly lonely on the streets, so good luck to you Kagiso! Check out this week’s episode to see he’s public meltdown!
