The annual Ard Matthews and Friends Charity Concert will be taking place for the third year running, on Thursday 27th September 2012 at the Upper Eastside Hotel in Woodstock.

The popular South African singer, Ard Matthews who is also lead singer of the acclaimed band Just Jinjer, has been at the forefront of this concert for the past 2 years along with the assistance of top events and PR company, The Little Black Book, and brings together great South African talent to raise money for a worthy cause.

This year the funds raised through ticket sales will go to a trust called “We The Good People”. A charitable cause, founded by Ard along with two other trustees, Alistair Hargreaves (Springbok/Sharks Lock) and Sean Temple (owner of Flux Motion Kettle Bell Gym). The simple rule of this organization is – trust – and they hope to gain the trust of the public when it comes to the appropriation of charitable efforts.
The charity aims to educate the public about the importance of giving back to others no matter how busy they get, and to allow 100% transparency when it comes to the distribution of the funds. It will also be facilitated by one of the world’s top law firms, Norton Rose, as part of their pro-bono social investment.

This year’s line up will not disappoint and will include Ross Learmonth, lead singer of Prime Circle, Arno Carstens, blues sensation Dan Patlansky, and of course front man, Ard Matthews.

There will also be a short and fun auction taking place, handled by the well known Ariella Kuper from Clear Asset Auctions.  Tickets will be available through www.webtickets.co.za and will be R150 each.

Are you in the mood to party this weekend? Well it seems there’s a must-attend bash in Cape Town this Saturday – 8 September – where one of Cape Town’s most favourite club patrons will be feasting away his birthday.

Shivon Doyle or “Don Shivon” as he is affectionately known to friends and clubgoers at Living Room night club in Cape Town, is one of the driving forces behind the success of the popular club hot spot in The Mother City, which is owned by Beryl Rhode. The Don, who won’t reveal just how young he is, is expected to celebrate his special day at the night club that he’s been synonymous with for over the years. He’s also the guy you would want to go to if you need a guest list, VIP bash or just an excuse to visit one of the plushest night clubs in Cape Town.

So with the party plans all in plans for Saturday 8 September, I quickly chatted to “Don Shivon” to hear all about managing Living Room night club and what his birthday plans will be this weekend . . .

What’s it like working at one of Cape Town’s hottest night clubs?
Being part of one of the Hottest Night Clubs is an experience of its own entirety. The day to day challenges to keep up with the top class industry & service delivery to keeping our consumers satisfied on a cosmic level like no other does come with the minor headache or two. We’ve remained loyal to ourselves as well as our consumers & and the consistency is there to stay.

How do you manage to keep the club popular and refreshed all the time?
Well entertainment is a tricky game, you always have to think ahead & be on top of all trends. You have to create new concepts & stay fresh. Our brand is strong; it attracts a chic and sophisticated market. With top class events every week, we leave no room for disappointment.

What sets Living Room apart from all other night clubs in The Mother City?
Living Room is an upmarket and sophisticated multi levelled entertainment venue, we cater for any style event of your choice, boasting a sexy Cocktail bar, VIP lounge, Restaurant, Cigar Lounge, Dance Arena and Function Rooms/Lounges which can be utilized for Birthday Parties as well as Private Functions.

What’s been one of your favourite memories of the being associated with the club?
There’s a few … running for 5 years consistently, the roll out of international brands, Fragrance launches “Carolina Herrera 212 VIP” & international recognition from our patrons.

For those patrons who haven’t yet visited Living Room, what can they expect when they do visit the club?
They can expect to give new meaning to “painting the town red” … We’ll leave the rest to their imagination.

It’s your birthday this week… What celebrations will be on offer?
I don’t kiss and tell … Make sure not to miss out!

How old will you be turning?
A gentleman never reveals his age ;)

What’s the response been like towards the monthly Business After 5 initiatives on Friday nights so far from club goers??
BA5 is vastly growing attracting our regular patrons, corporate socialites and introducing an upmarket networking organization.

Which artists/acts would you still love to host at Living Room?
In up and coming months we are to host a few national as well as international acts … for competitive reasons … or lack thereof we shall not mention these acts ;)
